The Pays de la Loire Regional Health Agency (ARS) communicated the latest data on the coronavirus on Tuesday February 22, 2022.
In Loire-Atlantique, as elsewhere, the Covid-19 is in very sharp decline, but remains all the same at a high stage.
“A completely paradoxical situation”
At department level, the incidence rate (i.e. the number of cumulative positive tests over 7 rolling days per 100,000 inhabitants) was 766 on February 19 (844 in France) while it was around 4,000. end of January and the 1,300 on February 12. But the 44 still remains classified as a “maximum alert zone” indicating “a very intense circulation of the virus”. Indeed, according to the criteria of the ARS, to be in this category, the sector must display a minimum incidence rate of… 250.
Here are the figures for the incidence rates as of February 19 by intermunicipal authority:
- Community of Estuaire and Sillon communes (Savenay region) 1,051.
- Community of communes of the region of Blain 1,039.
- Clisson Sevre and Maine Agglo 938.
- Community of communes of Erdre and Gesvres (region of Nort-sur-Erdre / Héric) 885.

In his column of February 18, Dr. Pierre Blaise, scientific director at ARS Pays de la Loire, speaks of a “completely paradoxical” situation.
“A key moment in the epidemic”
“Multiple signals with the rapid decline in incidence rates give the feeling that we are living the end of the pandemic and that it is now behind us. To perhaps give way to a life with the virus that has become endemic or seasonally epidemic, if it does not disappear. And at the same time, this decreasing pandemic wave still leaves establishments, health and medico-social services and health professionals in major difficulty, to the point that the situation is as, if not more difficult than during previous waves, at the except perhaps intensive care units. But this time, less because of the pressure of the patients, than the absenteeism of the health professionals contaminated with the same extent as the rest of the population”, “, analyzes Pierre Blaise.
“While the timetable for lifting restrictive measures invites the long-awaited relaxation recalling the optimism of June 2020, to what extent and how can we remain on our guard so that the lessons of this crisis are not erased? We may once again be at a key moment in the epidemic. A pivotal moment, before capitalizing on what we have learned, while remaining vigilant against this ever-present virus, before the “spotlights go out”. »
