COVID-19 Vaccine | IU Health

Although you will not be able to choose which vaccine to receive, at your first and second appointments you will receive the same type of vaccine. After your first injection, you will be given a vaccination card for your personal records. For your safekeeping, consider taking a photo of the card and keeping it on your mobile device. That way, you will have your record available and accessible for your second appointment.

Due to the daily planning of supplies and logistics at each facility, we cannot guarantee which vaccine a person will receive at their first appointment. However, IU Health is confident that both vaccines are safe, taking into account the full FDA review and approval process (so far, extensive review of safety data from clinical trials shows that after the second dose, both vaccines are 95% effective in preventing COVID-19 in the adult population).
