Covid-19 Vaccination Target Not Reached, Health Office Nganjuk Asks DPRD to Propose Additional Doses to Province

SURYA.CO.ID, NGANJUK – The movement to accelerate vaccination for residents of Nganjuk Regency was not as smooth as expected. The Nganjuk DPRD also began to question the failure to achieve the Covid-19 vaccination target which was considered crucial to suppress the spread of the corona virus.

The chairman of Commission 4 of the Nganjuk DPRD, Edy Santoso, said that vaccination is one way to prevent the spread of the virus, which is still high in Nganjuk. But his party was disappointed because the Covid-19 vaccination had not met the target.

“What are the problems until the vaccination target has not been achieved in Nganjuk? Even though the vaccine is needed in an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 which is quite high today,” said Edy, Tuesday (3/8/2021).

Edy said, although the vaccination movement has also been carried out by the ranks of the Police and the TNI by maximizing the medical personnel they have, it has not yet reached the target.

Because it should be with the ability of medical personnel who are already adequate, the vaccination target should be achieved.

“Therefore, we will help according to the main tasks and authorities in accelerating the Covid-19 vaccination in Nganjuk, if there are obstacles in the field,” said Edy.

Regarding the accusation of inaction in achieving the target, the Acting Head of the Nganjuk District Health Office, RR Heni Rochtanti, gave an explanation. He explained that the target had not been achieved because of the limited stock of vaccines received by the health office.

Every day, the need for Covid-19 vaccine in Nganjuk reaches 1,000 vials but the East Java Provincial Government only distributes around 125-145 vials of vaccine per day.

“The limited number of vaccines is the main reason that vaccinations in Nganjuk have not reached the target,” said Heni.

Heni added that every day in Nganjuk, it is targeted that as many as 8,000 people are vaccinated. However, in its implementation, in a day the number of people vaccinated only reached 5,000 people.

In fact, the readiness of the vaccinators and the facilities for the implementation of the vaccine have all been fulfilled. Therefore, Heni hopes that the council will help propose additional vaccines needed in Nganjuk.

“That’s why we expect the Nganjuk DPRD’s assistance, if they have good relations with the East Java Provincial Government, they can ask for an additional vaccine quota to accelerate the vaccination program. This is in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he said. ****
