COVID-19 vaccination days continue in Escuintla

Escuintla, September 22 (AGN) .- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) continues with vaccination days against COVID-19 in order to protect the population of Escuintla.

For this task, they have the support of the Parachute Brigade of the Guatemalan army, which has deployed its elements in Puerto San José, Iztapa and Masagua to bring the doses closer to the neighbors.

In addition, in Palín, with the support of the municipality, home visits are maintained in rural areas. This has made it possible to immunize children, adolescents and adults who for various reasons have not been able to approach health services.

To reach more people, a permanent vaccination post was set up in the latter place in the corridor of the arches of the old municipal building, where it is manned from 8:00 to 16:00, from Monday to Friday.

The vaccines available for minors are as follows:

  • Pfizer first dose, ages 12 and up
  • first dose of Moderna, from 6 to 11 years

For adults, the second dose and the booster of Pfizer are applied, as well as the three injections, as appropriate, of AstraZeneca. Of the biological developed by Moderna, the second and third doses are administered.

permanent actions

The authorities of the Escuintla Health Area said that thanks to the strategies maintained since the beginning of the vaccination process, the population has been protected against severe cases of COVID-19.

Likewise, they highlighted the importance of alliances established with other government and private initiative entities, as indicated by the head of the MSPAS, Francisco Coma, and the president Alejandro Giammattei.

These efforts have also been welcomed by neighbors. Julián Coj, resident in the village of San Pedro El Cerro in Palín, congratulated on the work done by the brigades that go from house to house.

These actions represent an important support for all of us who have few resources. With these days we have the advantage of taking care of our health without having to spend on transport, she commented.
