For the time being, you can only get the shot by appointment at one of the GGD injection locations. The vaccine is available for people over 60, adults who receive a flu shot invitation, medically high-risk groups and pregnant women. Healthcare workers with direct patient and/or client contact are also allowed to get a corona shot.
Not everyone who is eligible for this round of injections has received an invitation by letter. Only people aged 60 or older have received mail from the RIVM. The other groups must schedule an appointment with the GGD themselves. This is possible from October 16. This also applies to people who do not belong to the target groups, but who still want to be vaccinated because of a vulnerable family member or on the advice of their doctor.
Broad protection
There is a reason why not everyone is invited to have their shot. It is not necessary for everyone in the Netherlands to receive a corona shot, the RIVM says. Broad protection against corona has been built up among the population. This is due to vaccinations, previous corona infections or a combination of both. The omikron variant of the coronavirus is also less pathogenic than previous variants of the virus.
In Dordrecht you can go to Calandstraat for the autumn round. The injection location is open from Monday to Saturday and is therefore only by appointment for the time being.
