A bar, a reopening party, twelve infected. In Oliveira do Bairro, the return of a bar to activity was responsible for the contamination of at least a dozen people.
“There are 12 confirmed cases, related to the passage through the bar, all of them asymptomatic”, explained to the Renaissance the Mayor of Oliveira do Bairro, Duarte Novo. “Two people are hospitalized, but only because they cannot afford it,” adds the mayor. “The place where they were living, at this time, did not allow them to do the proper isolation.
So far, according to the Catholic broadcaster, about 120 people who have had contact with those infected have been tested for the new coronavirus. The mayor explains that most of the screenings had negative results.
Data from the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health show that Portugal now has 1,549 dead and 40,415 infected.
