Tuesday May 4, three new cases of Indian variant have been confirmed at Bordeaux, reports theRegional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
They have all been in contact with the first Bordeaux case, diagnosed on April 30 and certainly infected during a business trip to India, from where he returned on April 18.
Of the ten contact cases identified, four people had tested positive for Covid-19. The results of the sequencing, carried out at the National Reference Center (CNR) in Lyon, showed the presence of the same variant as the initial case, namely the variant “B.1.617.2”, that is to say a “descendant. ”(Or derivative) of the original“ Indian ”variant (B.1.617).
A case of an English variant
For the fourth contact case infected with Covid-19, it was screened for the English variant V1. “Checks are underway,” says the ARS, “but sequencing will not be necessary, if the checks confirm that it is indeed an English variant. “
The contamination of this case therefore seems, at this stage, to be of another origin.
