Covid-19: the Regional Health Agency evokes “the signal of a possible resumption of the epidemic” in Paca

“Developments which suggest a possible resumption of the epidemic”. In its latest communication, dated Tuesday, July 6, the ARS Paca hints at the probable arrival of a 4th wave in the region this summer.

According to the Regional Health Agency, “viral circulation no longer decreases but increases” especially among 20-29 year olds.

Even though hospital indicators – in particular the number of patients in intensive care – continue to decline, the ARS is concerned about the spread of the Delta variant in the region “strongly increasing”.

Delta variant: 8 out of 10 cases in 06 and 83

Also in its last press release, the health authority writes that more than 6 out of 10 cases are now carriers of the Delta variant (against 4 out of 10 nationally). “The highest rates are observed in the departments of Var and Alpes-Maritimes, approaching 80% of contaminations”, explains the ARS.

Result? The incidence rate is on the rise again in all the departments of the Paca region, but remains below the alert threshold set at 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The ARS even points to the urban community of Sophia-Antipolis, affected by several clusters with the Delta variant.
