Confusion in the communication of the ARS, this Tuesday, August 11. In its latest report on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic, theARS announced an epidemic focus (cluster) of 5 people in Pau, contaminated in the extended family circle.
Except that is not the case : if the samples were indeed analyzed in Pau, they would come from people located in the south of the Landes and in the Basque Country, in particular in Ossès. Information confirmed by Thomas Margueron, head of the public and environmental health pole at the ARS 64 delegation.
The management of the ARS also indicated that for the Basque Country, the cases concern a sailing school. “It’s a real puzzle to go up the chain of contamination, between the Basque Country (Ossès, editor’s note), the Landes and this sailing school”, specifies Maritchu Blanzaco, director of ARS 64.
The error stems from the fact that one of the infected people works in Pau. This led the services of the ARS to classify “by abuse” the origin of the epidemic focus in Pau. There is therefore, at present, no epidemic focus linked to the coronavirus in the capital of Béarn … ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine undertook this Tuesday evening to publish an erratum.
