Although the deaths are still well below the daily peak of 2,200 registered in April, the country recorded 1,535 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 239,588.

In the first 10 days of November alone, the United States surpassed one million new confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to local health officials.

The number of confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus in Germany has increased, in the last 24 hours, by 18,487, to a total of 705,687 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The latest data from the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases reports an additional 261 fatal cases from Covid-19, for a total of 11,767.

7:40 am – State of play

Companies will have longer deadlines to comply with tax obligations. The Government has adjusted the fiscal calendar in relation to what remains of 2020 and the first months of 2021.The philosophy of making the calendar more flexible, which has been applied because of the pandemic, is maintained.

The new rules were drawn up on the basis of an opinion from the Order of Chartered Accountants.

Companies are now able to deliver the VAT declaration by the 20th of each month. The deadline for delivery of the Model 10 is extended until February 25.

The delivery of Simplified Business Information is until July 15th and the IRC declaration until March 1st.

Invoices in digital format will be accepted until the end of March. The Government’s objective is to reduce the circulation of paper invoices during the pandemic.The Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises considers this to be a positive step, but it does not solve all the problems.

In the first wave of Covid-19, invoices in digital format begin to be used more. The idea is to resume this process.

Thus, invoices in digital format will be accepted until March 31.
Infections in the Lisbon Prison

Two hundred prisoners from the Lisbon Prison are in quarantine. The measure was taken following six cases of infection among prisoners.

Thus, quarantined prisoners and about 30 employees will carry out tests.

The picture in Portugal

62 more people died between Monday and Tuesday, for a total of 3021 dead since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health.

Since November 2, the daily number of deaths has always been more than four dozen and has a growing trend.

A further 3817 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were recorded within 24 hours. It is the lowest number since November 4.

2742 people were hospitalized. In intensive care, in serious condition, there were 382.
The international framework

The Covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,263,890 deaths in more than 50.9 million cases of infection, according to the balance sheet which is constantly being updated by the agency France Presse.

The Supreme Federal Court of Brazil gave the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) 48 hours to clarify the criteria used in the studies and tests of Coronavac, the potential Chinese vaccine against Covid-19.

Judge Ricardo Lewandowski’s decision comes 24 hours after Anvisa has suspended Coronavac tests, due to the death of a volunteer.

The judge intends to know “the criteria used to carry out the studies and experiments related to the vaccine mentioned above, as well as on the approval stage of this and other vaccines against Covid-19”.

Ricardo Lewandowski cites “the relevant public and collective interest” of the case, emphasizing that “health is the right of all and the duty of the State, guaranteed through social and economic policies aimed at reducing the risk of the disease”.
