16h12 – Home of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Idanha-a-Nova with 71 cases of infection
The nursing home of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Idanha-a-Nova, in the district of Castelo Branco, has 71 cases with positive result of infection by the new coronavirus, between 64 users and seven employees, was announced today.
According to a joint statement from the Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova, Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the Local Health Unit of Castelo Branco, all active cases of covid-19 are confined to the institution.

16h05 – Protests in Italy against new confinement
In Italy, the Naples region experienced a night of clashes after the governor of Campania decided to impose total confinement on the region.
The country is very close to 20,000 daily cases and is not the only one in Europe to break records every day.

16h01 – Request for diagnostic tests can be obtained through the Saúde24 line
It is already possible to obtain a request for the Covid-19 test, through the Health 24 line. As in March and April, the most critical months of the pandemic, SNS24 health professionals will be able to issue prescriptions.
According to the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, this is an exceptional and temporary measure. It serves to avoid further pressure on the National Health Service.

15h55 – Mandatory masks. Measure valid for 70 days but can be renewed
When the measure comes into force, anyone who does not wear a mask on the public road will incur a fine ranging from 100 to 500 euros.
The Government’s diploma was approved on Friday and is still awaiting the promulgation of the head of state and publication in the Diário da República. The measure is in effect for 70 days, but can be renewed.

15h50 – 20 more cases in Mogadouro home
At the Vilarinho dos Galegos home, fifteen users and five employees tested positive for covid-19. They are almost all asymptomatic.
A Red Cross rapid intervention brigade has already been launched to treat the elderly.
The situation is stable for now. Users, positive and negative, all remain in the institution, but in separate wards.

15h44 – Center Region with more than nine thousand positive cases
The risk of transmission in the center of the country skyrocketed in the last week and on Friday more than 350 cases were registered, but the regional health authorities say that everything is under control.

15h38 – Health authorities closed two school groups
The municipalities of greatest concern in the Alentejo are Beja, Vila Viçosa and Borba.
Homes are the places with the most cases, but this week, in the municipalities of Borba and Vila Viçosa, the health authorities have decided – for the first time since the academic year began – to close all schools in two.

3:30 pm – Mayors from the North ask for more muscular restraint measures
Restriction measures imposed on the municipalities of Paços de Ferreira, Lousada and Felgueiras can be extended to neighboring municipalities.
These are the cases of Guimarães, Vizela, Paredes and Penafiel where a field hospital began to be installed to reinforce the assistance to patients in Vale do Sousa.
The number of cases continues to grow and some mayors in the region call for even more muscular measures.
The Mayor of Vizela, also infected with Covid-19, argues that the measures already announced for three counties should be joined by the curfew, starting at midnight.

There is a red alert that is launched when there are more than 120 new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
According to the weekly Expresso, the experts ask that the danger maps be released to the population, but the government resists.
Paços de Ferreira, Lousada and Felgueiras are among the municipalities with the highest incidence. In these counties, the Government imposed restrictive measures to contain the virus.
There are also counties with many infected in the capital region, such as Lisbon, Loures, Sintra, Cascais or Vila Franca de Xira.

14h31 – New infection record in Portugal with 3,669 new cases
The figures released this Saturday set a new record for new daily infections. This is the highest number ever since the pandemic began.
Hospital admissions also reached the maximum values recorded since March, in the last 24 hours, in a total of 1,455, 37 more people hospitalized than on Friday.
14h16 – More 3,669 cases and 21 dead in Portugal
According to the latest situation report issued by the Directorate-General for Health, there were 3,669 more confirmed cases and 21 deaths since Friday.
In total, 116,109 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal and 2,297 deaths in the country.
It is also worth mentioning the number of active cases, which is now 45,970 across the country (1,686 more than on Friday).
The number of recovered cases is now 1,962, in a total of 69,842 cases recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.
The trend recorded over the past week is maintained. The North region continues to have the highest number of new cases (more than 2,212) and more deaths (11).
The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region follows, with 1,027 new cases and six more deaths. The Center region accounts for 273 more cases and one more death.
In Alentejo, 96 new cases and two more deaths were registered. In the Algarve, there were 54 more cases and one death.
In the autonomous regions, the Azores has four more cases and Madeira has three new infections.
Note also for the number of hospitalizations, with a record of 37 more cases of hospitalization and 23 more cases of hospitalization in intensive care units.
Until midnight on Friday, Portugal had 1,455 cases of hospitalization by Covid-19, of which 221 were in intensive care.
13:34 – At least 1,145 million dead worldwide
The Covid-19 pandemic has already caused at least 1,145,847 deaths worldwide.
More than 42,262,290 infections were diagnosed in the same period, of which 28,754,900 were considered cured.
13h05 – António Costa does not exclude new restriction measures
The Prime Minister does not exclude the worsening of the restriction measures, including the curfew, but considers that it is still premature to escalate to the state of emergency.

11:30 am – Czech Republic also breaks record
The Czech Republic has recorded more than 15,000 new daily cases of infection with the new coronavirus, a daily record of the number of new cases since the start of the pandemic.
The Ministry of Health says the daily increase in confirmed cases of covid-19 in the country reached 15,252 on Friday. The previous record of 14,968 cases had been reached on Wednesday.
Since the start of the pandemic, the Czech Republic has recorded more than 238,300 confirmed cases, of which more than 78,000 in the past seven days, and recorded 1,971 virus-related deaths.
11h09 – Belgium with new daily record of cases
Belgium recorded 15,432 cases of infection with the new coronavirus on Friday, the highest number of daily infections recorded in the country since the start of the pandemic.
In total, 287,700 people have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic in Belgium, a country with 11.5 million inhabitants.
At the moment, 4,061 people are hospitalized due to covid-19, 632 of whom are in intensive care.
Since the beginning of the pandemic crisis, 10,658 people have died in the country.

10h23 – Africa with 232 more deaths
The African continent recorded 232 more deaths in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19, with a total of 40,922 deaths, and the number of infected people rose to 1,696,285.
According to the African Union’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in the 55 member states of the organization there were 10,696 more infected and the number of recovered people more than doubled in the last 24 hours.
9:45 am – India with 650 dead and over 53,000 infected
India recorded 650 deaths and 53,370 infected with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The country now totals 117,956 dead and more than 7.8 million cases.
9h07 – Germany exceeds ten thousand dead
Germany today surpassed the 10,000 killed by Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, after counting 49 deaths and 14,714 infected in the last 24 hours.
This number of cases constitutes a daily record of cases, even though it includes contagions not counted on Thursday due to a technical failure.
8:43 am – Polish President positive head
Poland’s President Andrzej Duda tested positive for the new coronavirus, said the spokesman for the head of state.
“As expected, President @AndrzejDuda was yesterday [sexta-feira] subjected to a test to detect the presence of coronavirus [SARS-CoV2]. The test was positive. The president is fine, “wrote Blazej Spychalski on the social network twitter.
Poland is facing a worsening of the pandemic like other countries in the world. This Saturday new restrictions come into force to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in Polish territory, a day after the country reached a daily record of 13,632 new cases on Friday.

The country registered 28 infected with the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, all imported
8:30 am – More than 400 killed in Mexico
Mexico recorded 418 deaths and 6,604 infected with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this assessment made on Friday, the country now counts a total of 88,312 deaths and 880,775 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are still 641,075 patients who were reported to have recovered.

Argentina recorded 382 deaths and 15,718 infected with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
The country, which this week surpassed the million cases and is the fifth in the world with more infections detected, has accumulated a total of 28,338 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The United States has recorded 880 deaths by covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
With this balance, the country reached 223,845 deaths, with more than 8.4 million confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, after 79,963 infections were identified in the last 24 hours.
Mask on the street
On Friday, Parliament approved the mandatory wearing of a mask on the street for 70 days. The PSD proposal was approved with the votes of the party, the PS and the CDS-PP and the abstention of the PCP and Bloco de Esquerda.
The proposal also provides for fines between 100 and 500 euros for defaulters.
Friday was the day with the highest number of deaths in Portugal in the last six months. 31 people died in the last 24 hours, mostly in the North and Lisbon regions. It is necessary to April 24 to find a higher daily death rate.
