The Czech Republic recorded an increase of more than 3,000 cases of the new coronavirus this Friday.

08h57 – Israel returns to confinement
Israel is preparing to return today to a confinement to try to contain an outbreak of covid-19 that has worsened for months, at a time when the government has been plagued by indecision and internal strife.
The three-week confinement starts at 14:00 local time (12:00 in Lisbon) and will include the closure of many commercial establishments, strict limits for public meetings and will largely confine people to an area up to one kilometer from their homes.

7:50 am – Brazil totaled 829 deaths and 36,303 cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, today informed the health authorities, who are still investigating the possible relationship of 2,396 deaths with the new coronavirus.
According to the bulletin released by the Ministry of Health, 324 of the 829 deaths occurred in the last three days, but were only included in today’s data after confirmation of the cause of death.
The South American country now totals 134,935 fatalities and 4,455,386 cases diagnosed since the pandemic began in the country, officially registered on February 26.

In the last hours
The Prime Minister urgently convened, today, in São Bento, a meeting of the crisis office to monitor the evolution of the covid-19 in Portugal.
The meeting, which is due to start at 11:30 am, follows the “continuous increase” of new daily cases of infection with the new coronavirus and the need to “increase citizens’ awareness of the adoption of preventive and safety measures against the covid-19 “.

The crisis cabinet, which last met on June 29, in São Bento, includes the ministers of State, Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, of State and of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, of State and Presidency, Marina Vieira da Silva, State and Finance, João Leão, National Defense, João Gomes Cravinho, Internal Administration, Eduardo Cabrita, Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, Health, Marta Temido and Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos.
Also part of this crisis cabinet are the Secretaries of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy and Defense, Youth and Sports and Mobility.

In the latest report, Portugal accounted for 10 more deaths related to covid-19 and 770 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has recorded 1,888 deaths and 66,396 cases of infection.
DGS indicates that five deaths were recorded in the North region, two in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, two in the Central region and one in the Algarve region.
37,804 contacts are under surveillance, 517 more than on Wednesday.
The number of cases is the highest since April 16, when 750 were registered.
As for deaths, this is the highest number since July 3, when Covid-19 recorded 11 deaths in Portugal.
The data also indicates that 480 people with covid-19 are admitted to hospitals (minus two compared to Wednesday), of which 59 (minus two) in intensive care units.
In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, where the highest number of infections occurs in the country, 373 new cases were reported, accounting for 33,960 cases of infection and 711 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The North region now has 255 more cases, now totaling 23,984, with 864 deaths.
In the Center region, 97 more cases were registered, with 5,480 infections and 256 deaths recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
In Alentejo, 14 more cases of covid-19 were registered, totaling 1,231 cases and 23 deaths so far.
The Algarve region has today reported 27 more cases of infection, adding up to a total of 1,304 cases and 19 deaths by covid-19.
In the autonomous region of the Azores, a new case was registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 241 infections, 15 dead since the beginning of the pandemic.
Madeira registers three more cases, accounting for 196 infections, with no deaths to date.
In the last 24 hours, 266 patients recovered, so that 44,794 people have already overcome the infection since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.
Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.
In total, the new coronavirus has already affected at least 29,987 men and 36,409 women in Portugal, according to the declared cases.
Of the total fatalities, 952 were men and 936 women.
The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
