The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) closed a gymnasium in Portalegre, following an inspiring action, in the context of combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, ASAE’s action resulted in the “coercive closure of the gym” and the identification of its owner and the six customers who were at the establishment.

9h51 – Government keeps flights with Brazil and United Kingdom suspended
The Government will extend restrictive air traffic measures until March 16, keeping all commercial and private flights to or from Brazil and the United Kingdom suspended.
In a statement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs advances today that restrictions on air traffic remain until March 16 and that flights to and from Brazil and the United Kingdom are suspended.
Flights, to or from mainland Portugal, to and from countries belonging to the European Union and countries associated with the Schengen Area are authorized.
9:39 am – Germany with 9,762 more cases and 396 deaths
Germany recorded 9,762 new cases of coronavirus and 396 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Germany has reported 2,434,446 coronavirus infections, 69,888 deaths and 2,243,200 recoveries.
9h09 – China adds ten new cases, all from abroad
The China Health Commission announced that it had diagnosed ten cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, all from abroad.
9h02 – Mexico with 782 more dead
Mexico has recorded 782 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, now accumulating 184,474 deaths since the pandemic began.
8:24 AM – 2,046 more dead and 72,203 cases in the US
The United States has reported 2,046 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, and 72,203 cases, the independent count at American Johns Hopkins University said on Friday.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has accumulated 510,134 deaths and 28,481,239 cases of the disease. It is the country with the most deaths due to Covid-19 and also with the most cases of infection.
8:20 am – Covid-19 tests cover all schools and will include screening with saliva samples
Covid-19 tests will cover all schools in mainland Portugal and there will also be screenings with saliva samples, in addition to the other methods with swabs.
A directive from the General Directorate of Health provides for regular tests, every 14 days, to teaching and non-teaching staff from all educational establishments and not only to secondary schools, as stipulated in the previous rule.
The decision also covers secondary school students.
Tests should also be carried out regularly “in places with the greatest risk of transmission in the workplace”, such as factories and civil construction.

The Portuguese Government’s plan for the deflation should not be announced until March 11th.
Speaking to the country, the prime minister insists that it is not yet time to ease measures. Schools will be the first to reopen, but there is no date yet.

Prohibition of movement between municipalities
Circulation between municipalities in mainland Portugal is again banned between 8 pm on Friday and 5 am on Monday, without prejudice to the exceptions provided for under the state of emergency to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Regardless of the level of risk of transmission of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, in which only 15 municipalities remain at extreme risk, with more than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, the ban on movement between municipalities applies to all Portuguese mainland.
The ban on driving between the 278 municipalities on the continent over the weekend has been applied successively since the New Year period, but it has seen an extension of the applicability schedule since January 15th, with the new general confinement.

Fewer hospitalizations in Portugal
Portugal recorded over the past 24 hours over 1,027 new cases and 58 deaths. In total, 16,243 people died and 802,773 were infected since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.
The country also recorded 2,780 recovered cases, out of a total of 714,493 recovered since the start of the pandemic.
There were still 209 fewer hospitalizations in the last 24 hours (14 less in intensive care). In total, there are 2,404 people hospitalized in Portugal with Covid-19, 522 in intensive care.
In Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 410 new cases and 28 deaths were registered. In the North region, there were over 250 new infections and 11 deaths. In the Center region, more than 140 cases and 13 deaths were registered.
To the south, the Alentejo accounts for 51 more cases and six deaths and the Algarve had 54 more cases.
In the autonomous regions, Madeira has 123 new cases and the Azores have not registered any new cases.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine approved in the USA
The U.S. Medicines Authority recommended on Friday the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against Covid-19.
This vaccine demonstrated efficacy between 66 and 85 percent in all ages. The tests involved 44,000 people in different countries.
It is the third vaccine approved for emergency use in the United States. Johnson & Johnson plans to distribute around 20 million doses in the country by the end of March.
