Prohibition of movement between municipalities

Fewer hospitalizations in Portugal

Portugal recorded over the past 24 hours over 1,027 new cases and 58 deaths. In total, 16,243 people died and 802,773 were infected since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The country also recorded 2,780 recovered cases, out of a total of 714,493 recovered since the start of the pandemic.

There were still 209 fewer hospitalizations in the last 24 hours (14 less in intensive care). In total, there are 2,404 people hospitalized in Portugal with Covid-19, 522 in intensive care.

In Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 410 new cases and 28 deaths were registered. In the North region, there were over 250 new infections and 11 deaths. In the Center region, more than 140 cases and 13 deaths were registered.

To the south, the Alentejo accounts for 51 more cases and six deaths and the Algarve had 54 more cases.

In the autonomous regions, Madeira has 123 new cases and the Azores have not registered any new cases.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine approved in the USA

The U.S. Medicines Authority recommended on Friday the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against Covid-19.

This vaccine demonstrated efficacy between 66 and 85 percent in all ages. The tests involved 44,000 people in different countries.

It is the third vaccine approved for emergency use in the United States. Johnson & Johnson plans to distribute around 20 million doses in the country by the end of March.
