FREDERICTON – The fourth wave of COVID-19 continues to sweep through New Brunswick.
Provincial authorities reported 93 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths on Sunday.
The regions of Fredericton and Edmundston are the most affected, both with 21 new cases.
One person from the Moncton area and one from the Edmundston area have died after contracting the coronavirus. This brings the number of victims to 66 since the start of the pandemic.
The number of active cases stands at 759.
The situation worries the authorities.
“The measures set out in the binding order are aimed at reducing the spread of the virus and it is necessary for everyone in New Brunswick to respect them in order to fight the virus,” Premier Blaine Higgs said in a statement. Get vaccinated and follow the measures in place and it will not take long for us to see sustained improvement. ”
The situation is not recovering in hospitals. There are 45 patients there, including 20 in an intensive care unit. Of these, 35 had not received a single dose of vaccine.
Newfoundland and Labrador has registered eight new cases. There are 149 active cases there.
