Russian pharmaceutical company R-Farm plans to produce the first batch of the Covid-19 vaccine in June under license from the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca, reports the news agency RIA Novosti.

“The entire volume produced in Russia – and it is several hundred doses of vaccine per month – will be intended for export”the chief executive of the firm, Vasily Ignatiev, told the agency.

It was already last July that the agreement for the production on Russian soil of the vaccine in question was finalized. So, the chairman of the board of directors Alexeï Repik had indicated that within the framework of the partnership, Russia would play the role of hub to deliver the vaccine in question to 30-50 countries, recalls the agency.

Russia registered its own vaccine, Sputnik V, last August, which has so far been licensed by more than 60 states. Recently, on its basis, a new vaccine, intended for export, Sputnik Light, was registered in the country. In addition, Russia has two other anti-Covid sera: the one developed by the Vektor center, the EpiVacCorona, and that of the Chumakov center, the CoviVac.
