Two days before the first round of the presidential election for which an exceptional health protocol has been put in place due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the virus is still circulating actively in Yonne, and in Bourgogne Franche-Comté. Incidence rateAfter several weeks of sharp increase, the incidence rate “seems to level off” according to the ARS. In Yonne, it went from 1,073 to 1,217 cases per 100,000 inhabitants between March 28 and April 4. At the regional level, the data is slightly higher, with an increase from 1,278 to 1,367 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the same period.
Among those over 65, the data is also on the rise. In Yonne, the incidence rate for this population stands at 1,003 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 780 seven days earlier. In Burgundy Franche-Comté, it went from 960 to 1,244 between March 28 and April 4. Note, since Thursday April 7, French people aged 60 and over are eligible for a new booster dose if they received the previous one at least six months ago.

Death In Icaunais hospitals, 812 people have died from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. That’s one more than last week. In Bourgogne Franche-Comté, 34 victims of the virus have been identified this week, bringing the total number of deaths to 6,165 in regional hospitals. We can add the 2,454 victims who died in a medico-social establishment in the region.
HospitalizationsThis Friday April 8, 2022, 68 people are hospitalized in Yonne for symptoms linked to Covid-19, including three in intensive care. Figures substantially similar to those of April 1 (66 hospitalizations including four in intensive care). Hospital pressure across the region has also changed little over the past seven days, with 571 people hospitalized due to Covid-19 compared to 561 on April 1. Thirty-three people positive for Covid-19 are in intensive care compared to thirty-two a week ago.

Vaccination The percentage of the population having received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19 has not changed in Yonne this week: it remains fixed at 79.3% of the eligible population. In the Region, it gains 0.1 point, to settle at 78.6% now.
In schoolsLike last week, no class is closed in Yonne on April 8. There are 308 positive students in the department, against 363 a week earlier. In the Dijon academy, 32 first degree classes are closed, there were 26 on April 1. Over the last seven days, 1,973 students have tested positive, this is less than a week earlier (2,276).
