Three weeks after the start of the school year, epidemic pressure continues to drop in the classrooms of the Lyon academy.
The return of students to schools, colleges and high schools in the Lyon academy has not yet caused a rebound of Covid-19 among the youngest. The circulation of the virus also continues to decline. Over the last seven days, only 37 students (out of a total of 638,300) have been diagnosed positive in the Rhône, Ain and Loire, according to the latest figures communicated by the Lyon academy on Friday, September 23. Last week, they were 270.
There are 133 closed classes in the territory covered by the academy, the Rhône, the Loire and the Ain, about 200 less than a week ago. In addition, the saliva tests have resumed: more than 25,000 have been carried out over the last seven days. The academy also indicates that a fifth of colleges and high schools offer students aged 12 and over to be vaccinated on site.
The epidemic dynamic in classrooms is thus aligned with that of the entire population. Indeed, the incidence rate continues to fall after falling below the 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants mark on September 14, a level comparable to that of mid-July. If the decline is confirmed, the students may well drop the mask. Indeed, from October 4, the obligation to wear a mask at school will disappear in all the departments where the incidence rate remains below 50 cases per 100,000 people.
