The Ministry of Health, today, Thursday 22 October, communicated the data of the Covid-19 epidemic in Italy via bulletin.

On Tuesday i cases of contagion had risen to 434.449. Of these they were 142.739 subjects currently positive. The patients admitted to intensive care which amounted to 870. The number of healed had come to 255.005. Unfortunately, the total death toll was also rising, which from the beginning of the emergency reached 36.705 unit.
The Abruzzo region, the statement read, subtracted 3 positives, two as already counted in recent days and 1 already charged to another region. There Campania Region, instead, it reported that the number of deceased it referred to the period starting from October 13 for late communication of deaths occurring outside the territory of the respective ASL of competence.

Covid-19, Ippolito: “We must expect a further increase in deaths”
“The increase in cases recorded in the last week to ten days is certainly worrying. Compared to the months of March and April, today we have a clearer picture, given that the number of tampons performed now is five times higher, so we are able to intercept many asymptomatic people who previously escaped us“. So comments on the increase in cases of contagion from Covid-19, during an interview with Future, professor Giuseppe Ippolito. According to the scientific director of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome, the figure that currently remains stable is that of hospitalizations in intensive care and those in distribution which amount respectively to 0,5% and al 4,5% compared to the total of positives. Regarding the deaths, the expert explained: “The number of victims follows these curves with a few weeks of delay, therefore, unfortunately, a further increase in deaths is to be expected“.
