Covid-19 tests are negative for Tour de France participants and positive for the race director

The third Covid-19 test was negative for all participants in the prestigious Tour de France, according to the International Cycling Union (FIA).

True, Covid-19 is infected by the competition director Christian Prudom, who will have to spend the next week in self-isolation. Also, one representative from the Cofidis, AG2R La Mondiale, Ineos Grenadiers and Mitchelton-Scott teams must leave the competition due to positive tests. One technical service technician has also been infected with Covid-19.

The tests were performed on September 7 and 8, but the fourth round is scheduled for the next day of rest – September 14. A total of 841 inspections were performed.

If at least two infections were detected in one of the teams, the tour of this unit would most likely have ended. To limit the spread of Covid-19, the team was reduced to 30 people, but some units arrived with only 25 people.

Earlier, Covid-19 was found in the Lotto-Soudal team, which had two mechanics infected. The virus was also detected in two of their roommates.

On Monday, the athletes had a holiday, but on Tuesday, a distance of 168.5 kilometers along the plain must be covered. Latvians Toms Skujiņš and Krists Neilands are also taking part in the prestigious cycling ride, who have been happy to take part in the first nine stages, and on Saturday Skujiņš won the second place in the eighth stage.

The Tour de France, which is rightly considered one of the largest sporting events in the world, is celebrating its 107th anniversary this year.

In total, the French tour is scheduled for 21 stages this year, finishing on September 20 in the Champs Elysées.
