LONDON – Hairdressers across the UK have warned people who have contracted Covid-19 not to dye their hair for months after infection. This is to avoid severe burns and rashes.
Experts are currently investigating how the coronavirus can reprogram and alter the immune system. One woman, named Gemma, experienced burning pain after undergoing tests for hair dye.
This in some cases could mean you are becoming allergic or sensitive to things that have never bothered you before. If you’re going to be dyeing your hair, you’ll still need to do a patch test, but usually within six months of your appointment.
The National Hair and Beauty Federation (NHBF) had previously suspected the allergic reactions seen in people who styled their hair after lockdown happened because people have not been for months hair coloring they. This condition has sparked concerns that those who have previously been infected with Covid-19 may have experienced changes in their immune systems.
Hairstyling expert Jason Collier says customers should always do a 48-hour patch test before dyeing their hair. Jason is known as Jerome Russell’s ambassador.

“Those who have seen a reaction generally do so within 24 hours, so leaving more time between the patch test and the appointment can help uncover any allergens,” says Collier.
Collier said the way the body reacts to something is always different. So he suggests leaving more time before coloring your hair can help prevent further reactions or reactions. “A drug change or a new tattoo can also cause and cause a reaction to hair dye,” says Collier.
But Collier says if you have Covid-19, then you shouldn’t delay visiting your hairdresser. However, you must adhere to the patch test rules.
“And if you feel any reaction, tell your stylist as soon as possible. If you’re concerned, you might want to get an allergen test at your doctor to see if you’ve developed anything new,” says Collier.
