Covid-19 Soars Again, 5 Provinces Record Most Cases

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Covid-19 cases in the country are still increasing and skyrocketing again with the addition of 39,532 new cases, bringing the total to 3.607 million people. The wave of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is now almost evenly distributed in every region, with 13 provinces recording more than 1,000 cases today.

The provinces with the highest cases today are West Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Java and Riau. West Java today recorded the addition of 4,580 cases, bringing the total to 631,730. The number of recovered patients is far more, namely 8,028 people, bringing the total to 513,583 people.

Unfortunately, the death toll is still increasing by 107 cases, bringing the total to 10,240 cases. Currently active cases or patients requiring treatment in West Java are the highest with 107,907 people.

Second, East Java with the addition of 4,490 people so that the total is 331,299 people. Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients increased by 5,007 people, and the number was 261,960 people. Unfortunately, the number of deaths in this province is still high with an additional 380 people and a total of 22,361 people. The active cases in East Java are still quite high at 46,978 people.

Third, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) with the addition of 3,598 cases, bringing the total to 46,276. The recovery rate increased by 911 to 31,245 people, and the death rate increased by 18 people to 810 people. Currently, there are 14,221 active cases in NTT.

Fourth, Central Java with the addition of 3,022 cases, bringing the total to 405,113 people. While the recovered patients increased by 7,966 people to 337,288 people. Unfortunately, the death rate in this province is still high with the addition of 440 people, bringing the total to 21,853. Currently active cases in Central Java reached 45,972 people.

Fifth, Riau with the addition of 2,205 cases, bringing the total to 105,399. The number of recovered patients increased by 1,114 people, bringing the total to 87,558 people. The number of deaths is still increasing by 56 people, bringing the total to 2,848 people. Meanwhile, active cases in Riau are 14,993 people.

Nationally, active cases are still quite high because new cases also continue to grow. The Ministry of Health noted that there were 507,129 people currently requiring treatment or active cases.

Previously, the Coordinator of the Expert Team and Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito emphasized that the trend of death in productive age is inseparable from the increase in cases at that age.

“The delta variant spread in 132 countries has caused an 80% increase in cases over the last 4 weeks. In fact, death can increase the chances of being referred late,” he said in Jakarta, Thursday (5/8/2021).

Wiku added, as the WHO message that fighting Covid-19 must be done like fighting a fire. That is, it is necessary to know where the hotspots originate. Suppressing transmission must know the source of transmission by way of testing.

“Testing is a priority because its function is to suppress transfusion, prevent disease and protect resistance with treatment records, quarantine,” he added.
