It is a new mapping of the epidemic. On Wednesday September 23, 2020, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran unveiled a new epidemiological map of the circulation of Covid-19. Seine-Saint-Denis is classified as an “enhanced alert zone”.
“Reinforced alert zone”
From now on, in France, the departments and metropolises are classified according to new categories: “Alert zone” in pink, “enhanced alert zone” in red, “maximum alert zone” in scarlet, “state of health emergency”. Three criteria are taken into account to determine the areas: the incidence rate, incidence rate in the elderly, and the proportion of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care units
Seine-Saint-Denis, like Paris and the inner suburbs, is classified as an “enhanced alert zone”. A ranking that comes with new, stricter measures for the inhabitants, “revised every two weeks”.
Bars, restaurants, sports halls …
The measure had been blown for several days: bars and restaurants will have to reduce their opening hours. These will no longer be able to open after 10 p.m. The maximum opening hours must be determined in the coming days by the prefect. The measure will come into force on Monday, September 28, 2020.
Another, more unexpected measure: the closure of sports halls and gymnasiums. During the press conference, the Minister of Health estimated that “wearing a mask was complicated there” and that users were not then able to respect the barrier gestures. Sports halls will have to close their doors on Saturday September 26, 2020.
Gatherings are also controlled. For large events, the gauge goes from 5,000 to 1,000 people. Party rooms are closed and local or student parties are prohibited. In public spaces, gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited.
