In England and Wales, for the first time after a break of several months, bars and restaurants are allowed to receive customers indoors, while in Scotland, where this was already allowed, bars and restaurants are again allowed to sell alcohol to customers indoors.

Opportunities for socialization of people have also been expanded. In England, up to six people or two households are allowed to gather indoors, but the maximum number of people allowed outdoors is 30.

In the UK, people have long been advised not to meet other people outside their family or close circle. Now British Prime Minister Boris Johnson advised compatriots to make informed decisions themselves and to be careful when embracing relatives.

In England, Scotland and Wales, cinemas, museums, theaters and concert halls are also allowed to reopen, but there are limits on the number of visitors.

The ban on international travel has also been lifted in England and Wales. People returning from the “green” countries will not be subject to quarantine if they pass the Covid-19 test. When returning from the “yellow” and “red” countries, people will have to comply with quarantine. In the case of “red” countries, quarantine will have to be carried out in special government-approved hotels.

The list of “green” countries includes, for example, Austria, Brunei, New Zealand, Portugal and Iceland.

In two areas of Scotland, Glasgow and Marie, stricter restrictions will remain in place as the virus has spread more rapidly.

Despite easing the restrictions, Scottish and English leaders continue to urge people to be cautious as the virus, which was originally discovered in India, has spread more rapidly in the country.

Northern Ireland will also review the restrictions this week with a view to easing them from next Monday.
