COVID-19 Report: 260 New Cases and Regional Positivity Rates

The case report for this Saturday, April 29, records 260 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity of 1.8% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 12,214 exams, PCR, and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 1.74%.

Of the 260 new cases, 65% are diagnosed by antigen test, 32% originate from active case finding (BAC) and 14% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 56% by antigen, 47% by BAC and 18% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.

According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Tarapacá, Atacama, Coquimbo and Antofagasta.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Tarapacá, Valparaíso and Ñuble.

According to today’s report, of the 260 new cases of COVID-19, 164 correspond to symptomatic people and 26 do not present symptoms. In addition, 70 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 5,283,908. Of this total, 918 patients are in the active stage, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from taking the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 5,192,318.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 10 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19: 260 new COVID-19 cases are reported . The total number of deaths amounts to 61,384 in the country.

As of yesterday, 51 people were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 32 remained with mechanical ventilation support. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 229 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 12,214 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 49,387,993 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 1.77% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 1.74%.
