The latest monitoring of OCTA Research shows that the Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila is still on the rise. Dr. Guido David, a fellow at OCTA Research, reported on April 27 that the seven-day positivity rate in Metro Manila increased from 8.4 percent on April 19 to 13.4 percent on April 26. He also stated that there is a possibility that the positivity rate will continue to increase in the coming days and may reach up to 20 percent. One of the reasons behind the surge in cases could be the Covid-19 Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16 spreading in the country, as stated by Dr. David. It is important to note that the benchmark for positivity rate set by the World Health Organization is 5 percent. On April 28, the country may record 900 to 1,100 new Covid-19 cases, according to Dr. David’s projection. Stay updated and stay safe.
