At least 30 students from Pontevedra and about 50 throughout Galicia are affected by macro-outbreak of Covid-19 that emerged in Mallorca. All infected with the British and Indian variants, which in some cases has already been extended to their relatives and direct friends.
See him also detected cases in Vigo, Ourense and Lugo, but it is the Pontevedra outbreak that worries Sergas, as recognized by the Conselleiro de Sanidade, who considers that it will be even greater given that many of the positives are asymptomatic and are still undetected.

For try to stop the contagion, the Xunta is conducting a investigation in all institutes to determine the exact number of students who have been to Mallorca in recent days, on end-of-year trips organized outside the centers.
The Conselleiro de Sanidade indicated that the Xunta is aware that there are more trips to Mallorca planned for the next few days, but has asked to be canceled given the high risk of existing infections.
Meanwhile, this morning they continued in the Provincial Hospital of Pontevedra the screening guided by Sergas among 510 students second year of high school belonging to 5 institutes of the capital. Some of the students who were in Mallorca on their end-of-year trip passed through there.
Several of the students said they were surprised for this outbreak because on the way back, tests were carried out at the airport, however they were negative. These students also explained that upon their return from Mallorca, most also attended graduation parties at their respective centers, which helped spread the virus.
But in addition, the students themselves recognized that in Mallorca prevention and security measures were conspicuous by their absence, because they attended “parties without a mask, and since there are people from all sides, what happened ended up happening”.
In Pontevedra, the most affected Institute is the Sánchez Canton of Pontevedra. Dr. Maceiras explained that it is about a very difficult outbreak to stop because it is very contagious, as it is being seen with the contagions between relatives and friends of the students.
This outbreak has initially caused a increase in cases in Galicia, and specifically in the Pontevedra-Salnés area, which today adds 40 new positives. The data of the day indicate that there are a total of 152 active cases (there are 24 more patients than yesterday, discounting the discharges).
And the hospital pressure is also increasing. There are 7 patients on the ward (4 in Montecelo and 3 in the Salnés), and only one patient is kept in the ICU.
Cases also rose notably in the municipality of Pontevedra, reaching 59 cases, with an increase of 19 positives in 24 hours. Poio adds 2 more cases and reaches 27 positives.
And in this context, the new restrictions come into force tomorrow. The mask can be removed outdoors, as long as the safety distance can be maintained, at least one and a half meters.
The new rules on masks will apply to all councils except those with special restrictions, where their use will be permanent, as is now the case.
It is the case of Poio, which from tomorrow will enter the Medium level of Restrictions due to the increase in cases in recent days. This implies that from tomorrow the Poio hospitality industry will have to reduce its capacity to 30% indoors and 50% outdoors.
On the contrary, Soutomaior will go from tomorrow to the low level of restrictions, like the other municipalities in the province of Pontevedra.
