Covid-19. Pandemic data in the UK, Italy and Spain in the last 24 hours – News

UK

The UK today recorded 36 more deaths related to covid-19, with a total of 43,550 fatalities, making it the country in Europe most affected by the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Health.

The data also indicates that in the last 24 hours, 901 more cases of covid-19 have appeared in the United Kingdom, totaling 311,151.

“Of the 9.19 million tests carried out since the beginning of the crisis, 311,151 were positive”, says the Ministry of Health.

Although the British government only reports deaths certified by a diagnostic test, other statistics indicate that the actual number of covid-19-related deaths exceeds 54,000 in the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom is the European country with the most deaths from covid-19 and the third in the world.

Italy

Italy today records 22 more deaths by covid-19 than on Saturday, totaling 34,738 fatalities, and 174 more new infections, the Italian Civil Protection reported.

In total, 240,310 people have been infected in Italy since February 21, when the first covid-19 infection was recorded.
According to data from the Italian Civil Protection, the 22 deaths recorded today are among the smallest increases registered since the beginning of the crisis.

The 174 new infections recorded in the last 24 hours also represent one of the smallest increases and are in line with the 175 new cases seen on Saturday.

Civil Protection reports that half of these infections are in the Lombardy region (northern Italy), the most affected by the pandemic.

Currently, there are 16,681 people infected with covid-19 in Italy, 155 fewer than on Saturday, most of them in isolation at home and with mild symptoms.

Despite this reduction, the Italian authorities are closely monitoring the evolution of some outbreaks that have appeared in various parts of the country, namely in an apartment block on the outskirts of Naples, where 42 Bulgarian immigrants tested positive.

The city of Bergamo (north), one of the most affected, will pay tribute to people who died with the covid-19 tonight, in a ceremony that will be attended by the Italian head of state.

Spain

Spain recorded two more deaths related to covid-19 and 118 new infections in the last 24 hours, 73 fewer than on Saturday, the Ministry of Health said today.

In total, Spain accounts for 28,343 fatalities and 248,770 cases of covid-19.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the number of deaths decreased today compared to those reported on Friday, with two fewer deaths.

The data also indicate that, in the last week, Spain registered 13 deaths by covid-19, mostly in Madrid and Castile and Leon.

Of the 118 new infections, 14 correspond to Catalonia, 20 to Madrid, 48 to Aragon, 12 to Andalusia, Navarra, seven to Cantabria, four to Murcia and two to Galicia and the Valencian Community.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 498,000 deaths and infected more than 10 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Portugal, 1,564 people died from 41,646 confirmed to be infected, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
