Quebec reached an unenviable peak by exceeding the plateau of 2,000 new reports of COVID-19, even if some dated from the day before.
According to data released on Saturday by the Ministry of Health, no less than 2,031 new cases have been identified.
The National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ) brings a downside to this report by indicating that “part of the 2031 confirmed cases reported […] comes from a catch-up in the entry of cases identified the day before which could not be entered in time ”.
The INSPQ also reports that the number of active cases stands at 13,846. Since the start of the pandemic, authorities have reported a total of 149,908 cases of COVID-19.
They deplored 48 deaths, 11 of which occurred in the last hours, 27 between November 28 and December 3, eight before November 28 and the other two on an unknown date.
The death toll stands at 7,231 victims.
However, the situation has improved in hospitals. Authorities report 754 hospitalizations on Saturday, seven less than the day before. There were also 96 patients in intensive care, one less than what was reported on Friday.
Few regions have been spared by the spread of contagion. There were 630 additional cases on the island of Montreal, 304 in the Capitale-Nationale, 263 in Montérégie, 145 in Laval, 137 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and 108 in Estrie.
Authorities reported 99 new cases in Chaudière-Appalaches, 82 in Lanaudière, 80 in Mauricie-Center-du-Québec and 70 in the Laurentians.
The situation seems rosier in Outaouais and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, where 27 and four new cases were reported respectively.
Authorities say 35,391 samples and 34,942 analyzes were carried out on December 3.
