Covid-19 / Morocco: pharmacists react to closures linked to contamination

Pharmacists in Morocco are worried about the closure of certain pharmacies following the contamination of certain employees by the new coronavirus (Covid-19). They sent a letter of protest to the Ministry of the Interior

The Confederation of Pharmacists’ Unions of Morocco wrote to the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, to demand a review of this decision deemed “without legal basis”, argues the confederation. She thus argues for Law 17-04 governing the profession of pharmacist and its practice in Morocco.

“According to articles 110, 123, 126 and 127, when the pharmacist is unable to fulfill his mission for medical reasons, another pharmacist may replace him while he recovers. In no case does the law stipulate any closure of the dispensary, ”the pharmacists argue in their correspondence.

“It is a vital service for citizens. Pharmacies must remain open to provide medicines and information, especially in certain remote regions where only one pharmacy is in operation, ”adds the Confederation.

Thus, the Confederation of Pharmacists’ Unions of Morocco urged the Minister of the Interior to intervene as soon as possible in order to resolve this problem and ensure the continuity of the activity of the pharmaceutical services provided to citizens.
