“Prevention and vaccination are the two keys to protect yourself, protect the most vulnerable, find yourself.” The Burgundy-Franche-Comté Regional Health Agency has just published its weekly status report which reports a very gradual decrease in viral circulation in recent days in the region.
The health situation is improving in hospitals in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, with 805 patients treated this Friday evening, including 114 in critical care. In Côte-d’Or, hospitalizations now stand at 166, including 29 resuscitations. However, the epidemic remains deadly since the Regional Health Agency and Public Health France have identified 62 new deaths in hospital this week, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. That is 4,717 deaths in health establishments since March 2020. On the scale of the Côte-d’Or, the provisional death toll is to date 919, a figure unchanged since May 18.
The incidence rate is falling
The number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants has stood at 120 over the past seven days in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, a drop compared to last week when the incidence rate reached around 150 cases. A decrease confirmed in Côte-d’Or where the last incidence rate recorded between May 11 and 17 was 138, all ages combined (79 for those over 65).

Vaccination: soon the million
Finally, on the vaccination side, “the milestone of one million people who have received at least one dose of vaccine in the region will be crossed in the coming days,” notes the ARS, which recalls that all people over 18 year-olds will be able to be vaccinated from May 31 instead of June 15 as initially planned.
