PMore than 26,000 people (26,362) have tested positive for the coronavirus in 24 hours, according to data published Wednesday, February 3, 2021 by Public Health France, which shows a relative stability of other indicators. The contaminations figure is the second highest over the past month, after a high of 26,784 cases on January 20. The positivity rate is almost stable, at 6.7%.

The number of deaths in hospital stands at 358 in 24 hours. It was 404 Tuesday night. The Covid-19 is responsible for 77,595 deaths since the start of the epidemic in France. The numbers of hospitalizations remain high, with 27,953 hospitalized patients (- 76 compared to the day before), including 1,882 new admissions (against 2,189 Tuesday).

The situation is similar for intensive care units, which health authorities fear they will be overwhelmed with the appearance of new variants of the coronavirus. With 275 new admissions in 24 hours, against 369 the day before. Data down slightly compared to the previous day (11,263 and 1,830 respectively).

1.6 million French people have received a dose

In terms of vaccinations, over 1.6 million people have received at least one dose, and 102,000 have received two. Emmanuel Macron assured Tuesday on TF1 that all French adults will be able to be vaccinated “by the end of the summer”, that is to say September 22, while refuting the accusations of slowness.

Prime Minister Jean Castex will hold a press conference on Thursday to take stock of the health situation and the measures to fight the pandemic already in place. An appointment, accompanied by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, which should not give rise to the announcement of a new turn of the screw.
