BEIJING, Feb.8 (Xinhua) – Mainland China reported no new confirmed cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 on Sunday, the National Health Commission said on Monday.
A total of 14 new confirmed cases from outside the mainland were reported on the same day, the commission said.
No new suspected cases or new deaths linked to the disease have been recorded, she added.
On the same day, 72 COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital after their recovery.
According to the report established on Sunday at the end of the day, a total of 4,804 imported cases were recorded on the mainland. Of these, 4,527 left hospital after their recovery, and 277 remain hospitalized. No deaths were reported among the imported cases.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the mainland reached 89,706 as of Sunday. Among them, 1,118 were still hospitalized, including 20 in serious condition.
A total of 83,952 patients had been discharged from hospital after recovery, and 4,636 had died of the disease on the mainland, the commission said.
As of Sunday, there were three suspected cases of COVID-19 on the mainland, and 27,636 close contacts remained under medical observation.
On the same day, sixteen new asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland, 15 of which were imported. No asymptomatic case was reclassified as a confirmed case.
A total of 639 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, of which 291 were from outside the mainland.
By late Sunday, 10,635 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 186 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 48 cases in Macao SAR and 927 cases, including nine deaths, in Taiwan .
A total of 9,887 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong, 46 in Macau and 844 in Taiwan were discharged from hospital after their recovery.
