Covid-19: Luanda Portuguese School suspends face-to-face classes after infected student

The Portuguese School of Luanda announced this Saturday the suspension of face-to-face classes, starting on Monday, due to the parents ‘insecurity regarding the students’ return and after having learned of a student infected with the new coronavirus.

In a statement released through its website, the institution announces the decision to return to the non-face-to-face regime, starting on Monday and for all levels of education, after having resumed the face-to-face classes, in mixed regime, in teaching. secondary school, on the 12th of October.

The school reveals that during this first week “a high number of students did not attend the face-to-face classes”, revealing “significant insecurity on the part of the parents”, despite the adoption of all safety and prevention measures.

The school admits that the evolution of the epidemiological situation also weighed in this decision, with a progressive increase in the number of cases, as well as the weak response in terms of medical assistance.

“In addition to these circumstances, there is an awareness of a positive case of covid-19 that occurred with a student at the school, reinforcing the arguments and fears already mentioned”, adds the school, stressing that the measure had the agreement of the association of parents.
