The virus is still uncontrolled in Catalonia: 200,000 infected in seven days
The sixth wave of coronavirus continues to grow uncontrollably in Catalonia, which has once again broken the record for infections for the entire epidemic, with more than 200,000 in the last seven days, which has increased the number of hospital admissions and worsened almost all epidemic indicators.
According to data updated this Monday by the Department of Health, today there are a total of 2,617 people admitted to Catalan hospitals for covid, 114 more than yesterday, of which 522, six more than yesterday, are in serious condition in the ICU, 329 of them intubated and 18 with ECMO (extracorporeal respiration).
The risk of outbreak (EPG), an indicator that measures the potential growth of the epidemic, has once again exceeded the record for the entire epidemic and has stood at 5,482 points, 229 more than yesterday, while the speed of spread of the disease (Rt), which has been growing for five days, has rebounded to 1.25, three hundredths more than yesterday, with which every 100 infected infect an average of 125 people and uncontrolled community transmission continues.
Despite the increase in infections, the visits of patients with covid to the outpatient clinics, which broke the record on Monday of last week, with 100,213 visits, are falling slightly after the measures adopted by Health to lighten the dispensing of casualties and the communication of Positives through pharmacies and yesterday, Sunday, were 12,247, a figure that still keeps primary care centers collapsed but that is 2,000 less than the previous Sunday.
