A newly published study has shown that Covid-19 doubles the risk of heart attack, stroke and death. The research has an interesting finding: This risk is lower in those with blood type O.

The research was carried out by scientists from the Cleveland Clinic and the University of Southern California. Good UK record keeping data was used. Between February and December 2020, data was analyzed on 10 thousand 5 people who caught Covid-19 before vaccination and 217 thousand 730 people who were not infected.

Although the claim that Covid-19 vaccines increase cardiovascular disease and related deaths has been refuted by ongoing studies, this study says that this is caused by the disease itself.

It found that those who had any type of Covid-19 infection were twice as likely to experience a major cardiac event such as heart attack, stroke and death for up to three years after diagnosis. The risk was significantly higher for hospitalized patients with Covid-19 (severe cases). The disease was even affected by the heart disease of the patients.

O blood group less affected

Advanced genetic analysis also revealed that those with non-O blood type (A, B or AB) were more likely to experience a serious cardiovascular event after Covid-19. The relationship between blood type and infection indicates a possible interaction between the virus and the genetic code that determines the blood type. Other previous studies have also shown that people with blood groups A, B and AB have a higher risk of contracting Covid-19. About 30 percent of 100 people have type O blood.

Talking about the latest data, researchers said that more than a billion people have got Covid-19, and the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death has not decreased for three years, so it is expected increase in cardiovascular disease.

The risk increases 12 times in cardiovascular patients

We tried to explain that what really did this was the Covid-19 disease, the virus itself. “Again, it has become clear that vaccines are preventative measures that reduce this risk. “

During the Covid-19 infection, as in some other diseases, the immune system sometimes goes into overdrive. This process facilitates blood clotting. Therefore, it can cause heart attack and stroke in patients who already have vascular stenosis and vascular calcification (atherosclerosis).

Azap said that the interesting aspect of this study is that the effects of heart attack and stroke continue even three years after the disease.

This includes those who have never had cardiovascular disease before. While the risk of disease increases 12-fold in those previously diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, it will be seven-fold in those without.

The reason for this is not yet clear. But it is known that the virus (SARS-CoV-2) greatly stimulates the body’s immune system and enables bloodshed in the acute phase. It can also hold the cells that are on the surface of the inner surface of the vessels. It can even settle there if there are records.

Azap explained that he still stimulates the immune system here as well: “Theoretically, we already thought that the immune system was reacting to the cells and plaques on the vessel and could make them grow and cause blockages. So, Covid proves every time that it is very different from the respiratory viruses we have seen before.“

Long covid

10 percent of those infected with Covid-19 develop prolonged Covid. Even if the disease is cured, it causes insomnia, difficulty concentrating, weakness due to breathing problems, fatigue, and widespread muscle pain.

Azap said the new research clearly shows another effect of the virus: “This is now a virus that affects cardiovascular health. “All complications of Covid-19 are more pronounced and more frequent in those with severe infections.”

‘Viral infection affects cardiovascular health‘

Badur said: “If half of the heart problems are linked to inflammation, the other half are caused by this virus directly affecting the heart muscle cells.”

Currently, the fourth Covid vaccine is being administered in the world. A vaccine is still made with the Wuhan strain, the first virus, in Turkey. This vaccine is not effective against new viruses in circulation. There is no plan or program in the Ministry of Health program regarding the purchase of updated vaccines. It’s not even mentioned.
