Their presence created confusion. As of Thursday April 1, 2021, the non-food traders are no longer allowed in the markets of Seine-Saint-Denis due to the health crisis in coronavirus. According to a new decree taken by the prefecture of the department, only food traders will have the authorization to unpack in the markets.
Market reduction
While so-called “non-essential” businesses have been closed to the public since Saturday, March 20, 2021, date of the introduction of the third confinement, the markets were an exception.
In most of the cities of Seine-Saint-Denis, non-food traders could continue to settle and unpack their merchandise. The prefecture left it to the cities to decide whether or not to maintain non-food businesses. Only a few municipalities had taken the initiative to close the non-food part of their markets.
It is now over. The markets will be reduced to food products only. In Bondy, the municipality announces in addition the establishment of a “reinforced device” on the markets for the management of flows and the circulation of users.
