“We are specifying that according to the protocol and directives that are indicated in the Minsa, this (the fourth dose) will continue with 50 micrograms and that is how it has been arranged”he asserted.
In this regard, Alexis Holguín, general director of Strategic Interventions in Public Health, assured that studies show that both doses of the Modera vaccine are safe. “This process has followed the permitted standards. We have had different types of vaccines against COVID-19 and the types of doses change. In the case of this vaccine (Modern) There are two types, the 50 microgram and the 100 microgram. Both have safety and efficacy studies”he detailed.
“As our regulations mention it, the health directive, where this vaccination is implemented, 100 micrograms can be placed as first or second, and in the case of third or reinforcements it would have to be in some special cases (immunosuppressed) 100 micrograms and in other cases 50 micrograms. It must be taken into account that these measures have changed in different countries, some, for example, have implemented the 100-microgram dose as third or as reinforcements in some special populations “he added.
He indicated that, due to the report of greater side effects such as fever, pain, among others, after the application of the fourth dose of the Moderna vaccinea meeting was held to specify the dose that citizens must receive.
For her part, María Elena Martínez explained that 96,000 health personnel, 39,000 older adults and 3,400 immunocompromised patients have received 100 micrograms of the Moderna vaccine to date.
