“We can test a thousand people a day”
Ten days before the end of year celebrations and on the eve of the school holidays, “we must make sure that no one is endangered, neither oneself nor others,” explains Florence Berthout. The mayor of the borough has initiated the campaign which will take place in a wing of her town hall, accessible by rue Clotaire which will be closed to cars, with barnums to wait.
“We can test a thousand people a day,” says the mayor. Screening will be accessible free, from three years old, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. without an appointment. Screening is especially for the inhabitants of the 5th district, but “everyone will be taken”, assures the mayor. PCR and antigen tests will be offered. The results of the tests, analyzed at the Broussais hospital, “will be returned in 24 hours maximum”.
Florence Berthout, who “does not fear engorgement”, believes that being tested “is a responsible act” with the hydroalcoholic gel and the wearing of a mask. She explains to news Paris : “There will be population movements, we need maximum security against the risk of transmission. It is essential to be able to help limit this risk. We want to organize departures and returns in optimal conditions. “
Unique operation in Paris thanks to the Covisan center
This operation, unique in Paris, is possible thanks to the existence of the Covisan center, a device managed with the AP-HP and the ARS, installed from March 19. “About thirty caregivers take turns. We have already carried out more than 10,000 tests, including two campaigns, one for deconfinement and one after returning from summer vacation, ”emphasizes Florence Berthout.
The mayor welcomes “the fluidity of the dialogue” with the partner institutions of the operation, which makes it possible to bring “the most appropriate response” to the health crisis. “We have to trust the local,” she pleads. Created in Île-de-France, the Covisan device is an explanation for the lower price paid by Paris during the second wave, compared to the first.
