COVID-19 in Israel Rises despite being the Best in Vaccination

Israel ever be country at the forefront of the world’s vaccination programmes, but is now one of the areas with the highest increase in cases in the world.

This country was predicted to be the first country to vaccinate the entire population. But until the first week of September, Israel recorded the highest number of cases calculated on a per capita population basis, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The number of vaccinations carried out by Israel has also fallen.

Israel, with a population of around nine million people, had become a reference for the world when it reopened community economic activities in April, while most of Europe and the United States were still in lockdown.

But now what Israel is facing is no longer how many people have been vaccinated, but the severity of those affected by the coronavirus and how to ensure that vaccine remain effective.

The delta variant is currently spreading and threatens the immunity of those who have been vaccinated.

At the end of February, the number of those who received the first dose in Israel reached about 50% of the population.

Israel returned to normal life in early June. At that time, Covid-19 cases remained low and the vaccination program was expected to be successful.

But once in July, cases crept up and early September, more than 10,000 new cases were recorded every day.

Israel has started a program of third or booster doses of vaccination for those aged 40 and over. So far attempts to provide a booster are showing signs of success.

But the escalation of cases in Israel has sparked debate about what the future holds for vaccination programs and the Covid pandemic.

Health officials are focusing on cases recorded after schools reopened on September 1. Next week, large crowds gather for the Jewish New Year’s Eve, Rosh Hashanah.

Israel implements a vaccination policy fairly quickly and covers a high percentage of the total population. However, there are still about one million people out of nine million who have not been vaccinated.

Israel is also a country with a young population. About a third of the population is under the age of 14. Children under 12 years of age are not entitled to the vaccine unless they have certain diseases.
