Covid-19 in hockey: MHL unit ‘Almaz’ will not go to Riga

Opponents will not go to Riga due to Covid-19 restrictions, but both matches of this week have been postponed to February 24 and 25 next year.

The home game series “Riga” started with a 0: 2 and 1: 3 loss to Yaroslavl’s “Loko”.

The next games for Rigans will take place on November 25 and 26 with Khabarovsk’s “Amursky Tiger”.

“Riga” with 29 points in 30 games in the Western zone ranks tenth, but “Almaz” with 31 points in 24 dues is two positions higher.

Last season’s MHL team “Riga” head coach Raimonds Vilkoits and his assistant Alexander Niživijs joined the Continental Hockey League (KHL) team Riga “Dinamo” coaching staff, while Valērijs Kuļibaba and Sergejs Durdins took over their duties.

Last season, the Riga team took the seventh place in the regular conference in the Western Conference, but in the first round of the playoffs, Yaroslavl’s “Loko” gave up 0-3.
