While the government announced new restrictions, unexpectedly on Friday evening, Santé Publique France counted 242 new deaths linked to Covid-19 this Saturday.
These new deaths, recorded in hospitals, bring the total of Covid-19 deaths in France to 75,862, including deaths in hospital and those in social and medico-social establishments (including nursing homes). Since Tuesday, 22,693 Covid victims have been identified in social and medico-social establishments.
At the hospital, 27,242 patients infected with the new coronavirus are currently being treated (including 3,103 serious cases in the intensive care unit, against 3,120 on Friday). In addition, 1,176 new patients were hospitalized across France. The posivity rate is 6.9%.
On average, over the last 7 days, around 1,600 new Covid patients are hospitalized every day in France, including 250 in real life.
1,479,146 vaccine injections were performed
Public Health France also counted 24,292 new positive tests this Friday, against 22,858 Friday. A figure reflecting a “rising plateau”, as the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, had qualified it last Thursday.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France on December 26, 2020, 1,479,146 injections have been carried out. People vaccinated so far are among the priority audiences defined by the health authorities.

On the front of the pandemic, France will close from Sunday its borders to countries outside the European Union, “unless there is a compelling reason”, in order to try to curb the spread of the epidemic. At the same time, the government decided to close non-food shopping centers of more than 20,000 m2 on Sunday and to strengthen attendance gauges in all supermarkets.
