While 21 million French people spent their first weekend under a third lockdown, the virus continues to circulate in the country. The bar of 30,000 new cases per day was again exceeded this Sunday: the authorities identified 30,581 new contaminations over the last 24 hours, against 35,327 the day before.
The pressure on the intensive care units is still maintained. According to the latest epidemic figures published on Sunday, the number of patients suffering from severe forms of the disease has further increased, now to 4,406 patients, against 4,353 the day before and 4,127 a week ago. New admissions, on the other hand, fell to 196 from 317 48 hours ago.
In Île de France, a particularly scrutinized region, nearly 1,300 patients are now in intensive care, out of a total of 6,367 hospitalized patients.
