COVID-19: Health reports 2,180 cases, 33 deaths and 1,417 hospitalized this May 28

The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica confirmed this May 28 2,180 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, With which the total number of cases rises to 314,102. Compared to yesterday, the variation in confirmed cases was 0.69%.

Of the cases registered today, 1686 were diagnosed by test and 494 by nexus. The moving average of new cases for the last seven days is 2,126, lower than yesterday’s 2,184, and adds 10 consecutive days downward.

Confirmed cases are registered in 82 cantons of the 7 provinces corresponding to 266,723 adults, 20,900 older adults and 26,363 minors.

Of the confirmed cases 156,731 are women (+1091) and 157,371 are men (+1089). In addition, 278,626 are Costa Rican (+1966) and 35,476 are foreigners (+214), a figure that also includes residents.

There are 242,019 people recovered (+2102) and 3,962 deceased (+33), so the number of active cases (currently infected) is 68.121. Active cases rose 0.06% compared to yesterday (+45). 77.05% of confirmed cases are recorded as recovered and the fatality rate of the virus in Costa Rica is 1.26%. The time-dependent reproducibility number (R_t) estimated for today was 0.95.

Of the cases recovered, 120,537 are women (+1075) and 121,482 are men (+1027). By age there are 206,136 recovered adults (+1877), 15,444 older adults (+68) and 20,331 minors (+157).

There are 1417 people hospitalized (-21) of which 527 are admitted to Intensive Care Units (-7) with ages between 0 to 92 years.
