After the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, May 12, the government spokesperson, Gabriel Attal, took stock of the health situation in France, facing the Covid-19.
“The epidemic is now receding”
“In one week the virus has experienced a sharp decline. The epidemic is now declining more strongly than at the same time in November last”, asserted Gabriel Attal, in remarks notably reported by Bftmv. The government spokesperson then continued that in one week too, “the incidence rate has fallen by 20%, the number of average new cases per day is down by a quarter and is now at a low level not reached since January”.
Always according to Mr. Attal, the number of patients in intensive care is now “below our maximum theoretical capacities”, and that approximately 100 beds are released daily in critical care units. “It is therefore a significant decline which is now observed in the hospital”, he analyzed.

More consistent improvement
Gabriel Attal also speaks of a more homogeneous improvement, stressing however that there are still some contrasts depending on the territories. “The circulation of the virus remains stronger in Ile-de-France, in the Hauts-de-France et en Normandie. The situation is improving there, although more slowly than at the national level “, he said.
You should know that in other regions of France, the incidence rate is currently less than 200, a significant decline “especially in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur where the incidence rate has fallen by more than a third this week again “.
