Covid-19: four more dead and 266 cases. Number of inmates is the highest since May 7 | Coronavirus

This Monday, Portugal registers four deaths by covid-19 than on Sunday, which is equivalent to an increase of 0.3%, in a total of 1568 registered since March. There are 489 hospitalized patients (31 more than in the previous year). Sunday, or 6.8% increase), of which 71 in intensive care units (minus four). It is the highest daily number of hospitalizations in the general ward since May 7, when there were 36 hospitalizations.

Of the 266 confirmed cases this Monday, 225 were identified in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, or the equivalent of 85% of the total new cases. In the North, 25 new cases were identified, six in the Center, six in the Alentejo, three in the Algarve, and a new case in the Azores (the first in 23 days).

There are 139 more recovered people, in a total of 27,205 cured since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal. There are 13,139 active cases (after subtracting the numbers of people cured and deaths).

Three of the four deaths recorded in the last 24 hours took place in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo; one in the North. The Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, indicated this Monday that the global lethality rate of covid-19 in Portugal is 3.7%. The lethality rate above 70 years old corresponds to 16.3%.

The leader of the regional intervention office in Lisbon and Vale to Tejo, Rui Portugal, indicated this Monday, in the press conference of the Directorate-General for Health, that his office is an “accelerator” in the fight against covid-19 in this region and that one of the areas that deserves more attention is the “training” of health units, especially at peak times.
