Global experience shows that opening schools does not significantly contribute to coronavirus disease. In addition, children with Covid-19 are relatively uncommon.

When Covid-19 was diagnosed by an employee of Olaine Secondary School No. 2, there are five classes in the house quarantine, the agency LETA found out in Olaine municipality.
Olaine Secondary School No. 2 continues to work, but the five classes that had contacted the school staff must be quarantined. They are not allowed to attend school, interest education classes.
The municipality claimed that the school was acting in accordance with the instructions of the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC). The institution has already contacted the parents of the specific classes of children, and the parents are informed that they should contact the family doctor and monitor the child’s state of health.
The SPKC, in turn, will inform GPs about the case in general and for specific patients.
It has already been reported that there are 13 Covid-19 infected people in Olaine municipality.
Last day, performing 1153 Covid-19 tests, one new case of Covid-19 was discovered in Latvia. The information available to the SPKC indicates that the patient is a previously established contact person for the patient.
