Covid-19: faced with an increase in cases, France places the United States on its red list

This is one of the various changes in the fight against Covid-19 resulting from the publication of a new decree in the Official Journal on January 1. The United States is placed on the red list for travel rules this Saturday.

If this doesn’t change anything for people who have been vaccinated, those who don’t have a full regimen – or who don’t have a dose – will experience a big change: instead of just seven days of self-isolation followed by testing. planned for travelers from one of the countries on the orange list, they will now have to respect a quarantine of 10 days which will be controlled by the police.

Explosion of cases and Omicron

This decision comes at a time when the United States is facing a very sharp increase in daily contaminations and when many inhabitants have crossed the country for the holiday season. To the point that the country had to halve the duration of isolation of people infected with Covid-19 and asymptomatic, from ten to five days. The quarantine period for unvaccinated contact cases is also reduced from 14 to 5 days. As for vaccinated contact cases, they do not need to isolate themselves.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the Omicron variant is already very much in the majority since the week of December 11 to 18.

In addition, France also placed, from this Saturday, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania in the red list.
