Covid-19. Exercising after receiving the vaccine increases its effectiveness

A new study showed that performing exercise low-impact after being vaccinated against the Covid-19 increases the antibody productionwhich generates a better immune response.

The World Health Organization (WHO) points out that vaccines activate the body’s natural defenses, which helps reduce the risk of contracting diseases, that is, the preparation recognizes an invading microbe and produces antibodies, proteins that the immune system creates to deal with various infections.

Although the effectiveness of the vaccine depends on the organism of each person or population, researchers from Iowa State University (United States) found that it is more effective in people who exercise, after being inoculated.

According to a statement, the specialists took blood samples from a group of people in order to monitor the levels of antigens. The patients were divided between those who were asked to rest and those who performed low impact exercise for 90 minutes, such as walking and jogging, this after being vaccinated with Pfizer’s anti-Covid preparation, as well as with the seasonal influenza (H1N1) vaccine.

The finding, published in the journal “Science”, showed that during the four weeks after vaccination, the production of antibodies in patients who performed physical activity increased, unlike those who did not do any exercise.

“These findings suggest that adults who exercise regularly may increase the antibody response to influenza vaccine or Covid-19 by engaging in a single bout of low-to-moderate intensity exercise after immunization,” the researchers said.

On the other hand, the researchers noted that exercise did not increase or decrease side effects caused by vaccines.

Other studies had already shown that exercise was beneficial for vaccination, however this new research revealed that the 90-minute period stimulated the creation of immune cells, as well as that aerobic exercise helps potentiate the effects of the vaccine against the coronavirus.
