Covid-19 Europe is ‘crazy’, Germany and the Netherlands explode

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Europe is now experiencing another spike in Covid-19 cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) called there was a worrying resurgence, saying “once again Europe is the epicenter of the pandemic”.

WHO Europe, which covers 53 European and Central Asian countries, said Covid-19 had increased 55% in the past four weeks. Even the new death toll will reach 500,000 in February 2022.

It’s not just Britain and Russia whose cases have exploded since October, cases in other countries that were initially low have also increased. “The current speed (of Covid-19 transmission) in 53 countries is very worrying,” said WHO regional director for Europe, Dr Hans Kluge in the latest press conference Thursday (4/11/2021) afternoon local time.

One of the countries experiencing a severe increase is Germany. The Panzer Country’s Covid-19 infection even broke the record set in December 2020.

Germany’s disease control agency, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), reported 33,949 new cases in one day, Thursday (4/11/2021). The data comes a day after Health Minister Jens Spahn said that Germany was living with a pandemic in which many people had not been vaccinated and that there would be a “maximum strength” fourth wave of the virus.

Quotes DW, this is not without reason. The fact is that Germany still lags behind other European countries in terms of Covid-19 vaccination.

Germany has only fully vaccinated 66.5% of its citizens. This is in contrast to Portugal, 88%, and Spain 81%.

The government even plans to make new rules for those who refuse to be vaccinated. “Like the ban on shopping and restaurants,” he said.

On the other hand, now German hospitals are also reportedly getting depressed. Wednesday, the hospitalization rate per 100,000 residents for seven days, rose to 3.62 from 3.29 the day before.

Spahn even met with 16 health ministers from 16 states to discuss the latest possible restrictions. This includes the possibility of postponing ending Germany’s state of emergency, which was due to end November 25.
