In Slovenia, a group of Covid-19 deniers and opponents of vaccination have invaded the building of the state television RTVS and demanded to give them the opportunity to express their views on the air, the Slovenian news agency STA reports on Saturday.
The invasion took place on Friday night. Police have detained 20 people who had managed to enter a television news studio.
“This is an unacceptable attack on the media, journalism and democracy,” said Manica Janežiča-Ambrožiča, editor of the television news service.
Covid-19 deniers have been protesting intermittently at the RTVS building for four months now, harassing television workers.
RTVS Director General Andrejs Grahs-Votmo has ordered the security of the television building to be strengthened, but has acknowledged that the area around the building is a public space where protesters are not prevented from gathering.
The incident is linked to a movement led by a former army officer, 1990 independence war veteran Ladislav Troha, according to the STA.
